Right now, I want you to put your phone away. Hide it for 5 minutes, 10 minutes. When you go to sleep, don’t have it by your bed side. When you wake up, the first thing you do is drink a nice glass of water and get natural light from our divine ball of light, the sun.
When I travel to the South, I notice an increase of humans walking around, totally disconnected with their heads down, looking at their cell phones. When I walk around, I have my head up, looking at the sky, the scenery, other people, waving and saying “hello”. What has happened to our world, our society? We have become so dependant on technology, our cell phones and tablets that we don’t even acknowledge one another whilst passing by on a beautiful stroll down Lakeshore Blvd. The children, my goodness, are playing with their tablets instead of playing outside with friends! I grew up in the 90’s and I now see how different my lifestyle was compared to any children nowadays. Playing outside, getting muddy, chasing fireflies at night and not going indoors until the streetlights came on, was the beautiful nostalgia of my childhood. For that, I am grateful. Now, you take away a tablet or screen from a child and they throw this massive hissy fit, temper tantrum, kicking and screaming! How bizarre is that? Anyway, all I have to say is that I find it extremely sad to see how children are raised nowadays.
Luckily, I live in an area where kids still leave their bikes outside on the front lawn, not worrying about theft. The kids are playing street hockey, just like I did, and it’s so refreshing to witness.
We need to remember that we don’t need constant screens in our faces. Put it down, look around and stop to smell the flowers. The screen is just making your brain mush. I love mashed potatoes but not when it’s my brain!
The large corporations, obviously, want you to continuously buy their new upgraded cell phones, computers, game consoles, big screen televisions, you name it. Do you really need it? Could you buy yourself a nice beautiful pair of Nike’s instead to go for those luscious walks down Cherry Blvd. Yup, I just made that street up. Get your ass off the couch, shut the screens down and call a friend, go to a show and celebrate life. Scientifically, the average human will waste TWENTY YEARS of their lives scrolling, on screens. WHAT? Seriously, look it up. Why would you want to take 20 years off your life for a stupid gadget? I know I ain’t.
Life is short. We’re here for a quick human experience. I want you to make the best of it. Fulfill your dreams, go for that desire and live your true purpose.
Hit the power button. Start the engines, take off to a new level of awareness of being a Being.
So, the next time you’re walking down Church Street, wave to that person! Say Hello! You never know, it could be the start of a beautiful relationship.
Stay healthy, stay humble, stay moving.
Reach for the stars.
God Bless. xx
